Taking a Break

waterHi friends! Taking a break from your regularly scheduled programing because we’re on vacation at my folks place in Maine. We’ve been resting, relaxing and spending lots of time with family and friends.

Tonight my grandparents are coming over and we’re going to grill some steaks and pork chops (I’ll be eating chicken of course). Tomorrow we’re going to the local country fair (this is Eric’s first trip to the fair and he’s really excited). We’ll be checking out the 4-H exhibits, eating lots of food that’s bad for us, and watching the sheep dog trials. And tomorrow night we’ll be visiting with my best friend from home and her kiddos (she has two and is pregnant with twins-she’s a brave woman!).

I’ve also been working on a few posts for after the holiday weekend (remember when I actually had a regular posting schedule?). I’ve been so busy lately I just haven’t had time to put my thoughts on paper screen which makes me a little sad. Blogging is something that I really enjoy and I think with the summer quickly drawing to a close I should have more time to get back into the blog and the pf community.

To my US readers, wishing you a safe, happy and healthy Labor Day Weekend!

KK-

How are you enjoying these last few days of summer? Is it too soon for “pumpkin spice” donuts?

It was a great vacation. Now that it’s back to the real world, I’m reminiscing about those vacation days. Fall is my favorite season, so it’s never to early for pumpkin flavored anything for me either.

  3. You can wish your Canadian readers a Happy Labour Day as well 🙂 Looks like a very relaxing vacation ahead of you! Enjoy KK

I think I knew that Canada also had a labour day, but for some reason it escaped my mind (I’ll blame that on vacation brain). Hope you had a lovely long weekend!

  4. Here in Canada, we also have Labour Day (with a “u”!) so its a long weekend, like yours. We’re going to the CNE this weekend, which is Toronto’s version of a fair with animals, midway, and really, really bad food 🙂 Hope you guys have a great time! 😀

I hope you had as much fun at the fair as we did. I did pretty good with my planned eating and managed to only sneak a few “bad for me” treats including french fries with vinegar and a chocolate covered banana 🙂

  5. Gorgeous photo! I’m very jealous. One of my former coworkers just went to Maine on vacation and it looks so nice there. Enjoy spending time with family and friends!

Maine is beautiful in the summer (and the winter if you like snow-I don’t! 😉 )

  6. Enjoy your vacation KK!! I feel as though I have been lax this summer, and I am looking forward to getting more focused once my son is back in school next week.

Thanks Shannon. We had such a nice time. I’ve been totally lax with a bunch of things this summer (blogging, eating, exercise). It’s now time for me to get back on track.

  7. It is so NOT too soon for pumpkin spice anything! So looking forward to fall 🙂

Me too! Fall is my favorite season, so I’m excited for the influx of pumpkin and spice and apple flavored everything! yum!

  8. Looking forward to the LabOUR day weekend too! Enjoy the rest of your holidays. Just wanted to let you know that my granddog is doing much better after a two day hospitality stay for kidney disease. Special food and all now but at least she’s doing better – skinnier but better. Also just found out today that we are dog sitting a neighbor’s dog for two weeks in October.

So glad to hear that your granddog is doing better. It’s so hard to see them sick and losing weight. Wishing her many more happy and healthy years! Hope you had a great labour day weekend!

  9. Have an awesome time, KK!! We absolutely love going to the county fair here. Can’t wait to hear what Eric thinks of it. All the best to you both. 🙂

He thought it was a total “hoot”. Downeast Maine is full of characters and we saw a bunch of them. He was also shocked/impressed by how many people my parents and grandparents know (small town!).

  10. Have a wonderful time with the family this Labour Day week-end KK! I’ll be chauffeuring my mom and DH to the airport this week-end so it’ll be a quiet one for me.

Quiet is sometimes a good thing! Hope you were able to get in a little R&R!

  11. I hope you have a great weekend! I’m so ready for fall. I’ve never had a pumpkin spice donut but I would love one 🙂

They are super yummy, especially with a cup of hot apple cider!

  12. It seems like we are all enjoying this long-weekend break! Gonna include Maine in my destination-travel list for next year! Can’t really wait.

Maine is really beautiful. If you make the trip let me know and I’ll steer you towards some neat places to visit 🙂

      1. Sure KK. I will let you know if I visit Maine. So excited for it.
